The New Year has now officially started, whatever way you wish to look at it. After the Gregorian New Year on January 1st and the Lunar New Year on February 17th, the spring equinox of March 20th has concluded the trifecta with the official astrological New Year.
Granted, it’s felt like a bit of a slow start. Many places in the world have experienced an unusually cold and/or wet start to the year and a lot of us are still recovering from the effects of Mercury retrograde - but there is a noticeable change in the air and it’s only going to gather more speed and momentum from here on.
All of this Aries energy can come with its own challenges - we may end up butting heads with others a lot more than we used to and especially under the Libra Full Moon and with a few challenging Venus aspects, relationships will need a bit more attention than usual. On the flip side, our physical energy and motivation will likely see a large boost, especially once Mars moves into Aries as well. This is a time to claim what you want, be bold in your desires and stand up for what matters to you.
Channel this energy wisely and you may end up creating something truly magnificent. May this Aries season be the start of something wonderful.
Lots of love,
Chrissy
Key Astro dates for your calendar
April 2: A Full Moon in Libra tidies up any relationship patterns that no longer serve us - whether that’s people-pleasing, always expecting the worst from others or something else entirely. Balance must be found between personal expression and the ability to relate authentically to others.
April 6: Venus conjuncts Ceres in Taurus. This is the perfect day for some pampering with someone you care about. It could be a romantic spa day with your lover, a dinner or picnic with friends or a cozy movie night in with snacks and fancy drinks. This is the day to share some sensual pleasures and indulgences.
April 9: Mars enters its home sign of Aries. Expect a boost in physical energy and a stronger desire to create change or start something new. Mercury leaves its post-retrgorade shadow on this day as well and with all planets now in direct motion, it’s like the universe holding up a giant sign that says GO! Just beware of over-committing in the heat of the enthusiasm.
April 11: Mercury conjuncts Pallas in Pisces. A day when intuitive insight flows but also provides you with ideas on what to do with these insights. This makes a great day to pull an oracle or tarot card or do an entire spread to gain clarity on a situation.
April 13: Mars conjuncts Neptune in Aries. This transit goes beyond just this day and you may feel its effects up to 2-3 days before and after. An urge could brew to either stand up for your beliefs or to do whatever is necessary to turn your dreams into reality.
April 15: Mercury also enters Aries today. Communication becomes direct, to-the-point and even downright blunt. We don’t tend to mince our words when Mercury is in the fiery sign of the initiator. Give yourself and others a bit of grace and the benefit of the doubt if a response is shorter and snappier than usual.
April 16: The Sun meets Chiron in Aries. Past pain points around identity, ego and even appearance could come up or be triggered around this time. It’s actually good news if they do, because it means that you are now ready to heal another layer of this issue. With Mars sextiling Pluto in Aquarius the same day, expect some support from any communities that you are involved in, but with Eris nearby, beware of unchecked rage or destructive tendencies.
Working with the Moon
When a Full Moon occurs across the Aries/Libra axis, our primary concern becomes one fundamental question: “Who am I?” This is a question that both of these signs aim to answer, but they come at it from opposing ways.
Aries argues that we can only truly know ourselves if we become self-sufficient and have the courage to go where no one else has ever gone before. Only through creation and testing ourselves can we ever truly understand what we are capable of.
Libra argues that we can only truly know ourselves if we can relate what we know of ourselves to others. Comparison is essential - not necessarily in a “Who’s better and who’s worse” kind of way, but in creating a wider understanding of where we fall within a spectrum.
There is a lot of Aries energy already on the day of this Full Moon which will only increase in the days following it. A few aspects happening around this time hint at the fact that however we desire to answer the question of who we are, the answer will be something new and potentially unexpected.
Saturn in Aries sextiles Pluto in Aquarius almost exactly on this day. Saturn creates the boundaries of who we are becoming (and it might do so by making it very clear who we are not) and Pluto enables the transformation within these boundaries. Jupiter in Cancer squares this Full Moon indicating that there could be a break with tradition or what is expected from us within our family or cultural background. This whole year is so much about creating ourselves anew and this Full Moon is just another step of the process by inviting us to let go of any patterns that are holding us back from becoming this new version that we are holding onto just for the sake of someone else.
Some fun ways to celebrate this Full Moon include:
Drink nettle tea or elderflower cordial.
Try your hand at some glamour magic.
Burn pine, rosemary or vanilla essential oil or incense.
Burn blue, pink or black candles.
Meditate on an image of Aphrodite.
Hold or wear a selenite, lapis lazuli, jade, emerald or rose quartz. Even better if you use two of these to go with the Libra balance theme.
Manifestation Technique of the Week
Sometimes you only figure out how well a technique or a practice works when you stop doing it and things start going downhill, or difficulties arise. I had that experience not that long ago with the 10-10-10 rule.
If you’ve not come across this rule yet, let me explain it to you briefly. It’s a technique that applies specifically to manifesting more financial abundance. It asks you to take 10% of your net income and donate it, take another 10% of the net total and put it in a savings account that you don’t touch and another 10% of the total goes to something luxurious - maybe a spa treatment, a mini getaway, or just the premium version of something you buy anyway.
The truth is that for a lot of us, there is a lot of emotional mess attached to finances. And when we manifest from a messy, chaotic state, then the results also tend to be messy and chaotic. The 10-10-10 rule aims to address a lot of these issues. It takes care of our need for stability and safety by building up our savings. It also takes care of our need for pleasure and enjoyment with the luxury budget. It allows us to feel in the present moment, that a more elevated lifestyle is achievable for us.
But the most important part - and unfortunately also the first one which tends to fall by the wayside when things are challenging - is the 10% on donations. People will tell you that when you give, you are signalling to the universe that you are already in a state of abundance and overflow and that’s absolutely true, but there’s even more to that. You see, many of us live in a “this-for-that” mentality. I give you love, you give me security. I give you a service, you give me money. I give you my time, you give me knowledge or entertainment or whatever. That’s how modern society is built - but it’s not how nature works.
Nature operates as a circular economy. Think about a healthy, rich ecosystem. There might be a certain type of microbe in the soil which feeds a certain plant, which in turn attracts a certain animal. That animal helps pollinate the plant, but it also attracts a larger predator animal and when that larger animal dies it decomposes and feeds the microbe in the soil again. Even that is a very simplified picture, but you get the idea. It’s never “I give you this, you give me that”. It’s a complex, circular system.
When you donate, you are essentially expressing your faith in this natural process. Through your actions you show that you can give without expecting anything in return from the person that you gave to - but simultaneously knowing that in another way, the universe will take care of you when you need it. Funnily enough, manifestation works a lot better when we work with the systems and patterns of nature and not against them.

For the longest time I had the belief that courage was something you either had or you didn’t - and as someone with no major placements in any fire signs, I guess I just wasn’t built to be courageous. In Courage is Calling: Fortune Favours the Brave, author Ryan Holiday challenges this perception and instead argues that courage is a practicable and learnable skill. Perfect reading for bold moves during Aries season.
For some gentle Full Moon movement, try this Full Moon in Libra Yoga flow by Nico Marie. This one was specifically made for this Full Moon, but she also has a shorter flow published last year if you don’t have as much time.
I don’t know about you, but when I’m going through relationship challenges, I immediately feel it in my body. Muscles get tense, sleep becomes difficult and my appetite either soars or disappears completely. If that sounds familiar, try these Somatic Exercises for Love to bring your nervous system back into balance even if things are feeling rocky right now.

Following the Fun - a few ideas on bringing whimsy into early Aries season
Say yes to a spontaneous invitation you’d normally decline. Maybe it’s an impromptu trip to the beach, signing up for a new class with your friend or visiting a restaurant you always walk past.
Have a cold shower. Granted, the health benefits of these are debated, but once in a while the cold water will leave you invigorated, buzzing with adrenaline and confident that you are able to do hard things.
Decorate your home with something in pairs to tap into Libra’s need for beauty, harmony and balance: Two candles maybe, two bouquets of flowers or two vintage picture frames.
Bake a cake or craft a cocktail using spring’s fresh blooms like lavender, clover flowers or pea blossoms
Go on a scent exploration of the latest spring perfumes - no purchase required, but perhaps you’ll even find your new signature scent
