I gotta level with you here. I was really looking forward to all of this Aries energy. As someone with no fire in their chart, Aries Leo and Sagittarius seasons are some of my favourite times of the year because they balance me out. But even for me all of this Aries energy is a lot.

Have you noticed how short people’s fuses are recently and how quickly tempers flare up? Trying to avoid conflict has become something of a full-time job at the moment. Then there’s the issue with attention span as well. Aries energy is a magnificent initiator, great at getting things started. But actually following through and finishing things? Not so much. That’s Saturn’s domain and Saturn is currently also in Aries, where he is in fall, being bossed about by Mars. The result? Before I’ve even gotten halfway through a simple task like updating my calendar, I’ve already started 3 other things on the side. It’s really quite a challenge to stick with anything at the moment.

Whenever there is such a strong concentration of one particular energy, the shadow sides will make themselves known quickly and intensely, but the key to dealing with them is in making a conscious effort to lean into the sign’s best qualities. I’ve seen many people reconnect with their inner child and finding a sense of joy in just playing and trying things out. There is also a lot to be said for constructively channelling the abundance of physical energy that’s about right now - whether that’s at the gym, doing outdoor sports and activities, spring cleaning your home or just putting on some loud music and dancing your heart out can bring an almost unparalleled sense of aliveness right now.

Soon the Sun will move into Taurus bringing some much needed grounding and stability. Meanwhile, the Aries New Moon is single-handedly the best day of the year to set powerful intentions and set out on a new path. May this path bring you all the fulfilment and happiness that you deserve.

Lots of love,

Chrissy

Key Astro dates for your calendar

April 17: A New Moon in Aries occurs on the same day that Mercury conjuncts Neptune in Aries. The signal could not be more obvious: It’s time to initiate, to pioneer, to start something new and take action on our dreams.

April 20: A triple conjunction of Mars, Mercury and Saturn hits while Juno conjuncts Pluto in Aquarius. Tread carefully today, these energies are powerful and transformative. Conflict is a lot more likely to happen, especially in any committed situations - romantic partnerships, work relationships, or anything involving contracts. It can be tempting to react impulsively, but this will not benefit the situation. The Sun entering Taurus offers the solution: If tempers flare, bring yourself back into the present moment and focus on your senses.

April 24: Venus conjuncts Uranus in the final degree of Taurus and then enters Gemini. What we used to need to feel secure and valued is being shaken off (maybe as a result of what happened around Monday?). Intellectual connection becomes more valuable than material and financial security.

April 26: Uranus enters Gemini and Pallas enters Aries. With Uranus now firmly in its new sign, the doors are open to revolutions in communication, education, transport and the way we think. Pallas in Aries helps us redefine who we are in this rapidly shifting world. The old ego and the old personality must be left behind - best to part with it on your own terms now.

Working with the Moon

Since Mars entered Aries on the 9th of April, the powerful Aries stellium has been activated and is building up to a spectacular show on the New Moon in the late degrees of Aries, before the Sun finally moves on and brings some much needed stability in Taurus.

Closely conjunct Chiron, the wounded healer, and Eris, planet of discord, wrath and strife, expect the energy to be powerful around this New Moon. Any unhealed pain around our egos and identities is likely to come up. There could be challenges to the way we see ourselves and the kind of person that we are.

At the same time it’s an incredibly potent time to set intentions around a new identity. If a situation comes up that deeply shakes your sense of self, consider it to be a gift. It’s not there to cause pain, but to be seen and acknowledged so that you can draw conclusions from it and decide consciously what kind of person you want to be going forward.

This much Aries energy can very easily scatter. It can be tempted to go after each and every idea that comes up - to collect all the shiny objects, so to speak. If you want to fully harness the incredible momentum behind this New Moon, then you’ll need to put a lot of conscious effort into focusing your energy. Allow yourself to finish one task, one thought or one idea before you race to the next.

Do the things that feel a little bit scary and a little bit out of reach. Aries energy imbues us with a lot of courage and confidence in our own abilities.

Some fun ways to celebrate this New Moon include:

  • Cook a spicy meal with cayenne pepper or drink some ginger or nettle tea.

  • Burn rosemary or lemon balm oil or incense.

  • Burn red, gold, or white candles.

  • Meditate on an image of Mars/Ares.

  • Hold or wear a carnelian, red jasper or bloodstone.

Manifesting with Astrology

During the early days when we started talking about manifestation in the mainstream (think books and films like The Secret) there was a common misconception that if we just think about a desire hard enough, it will eventually come to us. And in some cases that was genuinely all it took! But for most people, just thinking about meeting their soul mate while never leaving their home, or just thinking about being a successful business owner without ever spending any time actually creating said business, left them frustrated and might have even led them to believe that this whole manifestation story is nonsense.

Thankfully, that view is shifting now but there are still a lot of misconceptions around the action part of the manifestation process. And with a sky full of planets in Aries right now, there’s no better time to address them.

Probably the biggest misconception is not knowing what to do or how to get to where we want to be. The truth is, not knowing exactly how you’re going to get what you’re manifesting is kind of the point. It would be boring if we always knew every possible option for the future! It’s also a sign that your goal is a good level of ambitious and takes you out of your comfort zone. The issue is when we let this uncertainty stop us from doing anything, for fear of doing the “wrong” thing.

Think of it like taking a long road trip. You’ve put your goal in the sat nav and you’re ready to go. If the sat nav told you all of the different turns you have to take at the beginning of the trip, that would not only completely overwhelm you, it would also be useless information to you. The next step only makes sense in context, after the previous one has already been taken. At the same time, if you never start your car and actually start moving, then the best navigation in the entire world still won’t get you to your end destination. This is something Aries energy excels at. If you’ve been struggling to just start and get things moving, you will hardly find a better time than now. Take that first step and trust that even if it’s not perfect, the next step will show itself to you when the time is right.

Another common misconception is that action has to be hard work. We have hustle culture to blame for that. It created this false belief that if we’re not giving everything 110% all of the time, then we might as well not bother. It leads to us giving up on our dream of being fit and healthy, because we’re not able to go to the gym for 2 hours a day doing workouts that we severely dislike. It makes us give up on our businesses and careers because we’re not able to work until 3am and then get up at 5am for an early start the next day. The more this happens, the more internal resistance we create to even just starting. The truth is, if you’re truly aligned and keep the end goal in mind, then there might be some days where you’re in the gym for 2 hours or some nights where you work on your business until 3am - but you’re going to do it because you want to, because you’re inspired and in flow and having fun, rather than out of a sense of obligation. And it’s certainly not going to be like that every day.

To understand how you most naturally flow into taking action and how to build systems around that, take a look at which sign Mars falls into in your natal chart. For example: With Mars in Virgo, your actions need to be methodical and well thought out. With Mars in Cancer, there needs to be an emotional connection for you to feel inspired to take action. If you have Mars in Libra, you may feel naturally more motivated to do things if you have an accountability partner or even someone working along with you in the same room. With Mars in Aries (happy Mars return!) your energy comes in quick bursts which must be taken advantage of as they appear. A personal consultation can give you deeper insights into how to best work with your natal Mars to actively create the life you desire.

Journalling Prompts

The powerful stellium of Aries energy coupled with this New Moon in Aries is making it abundantly clear: The old ego is falling away. A new personality is being born. The question isn’t when, the question is: Are you going to be an active participator in the birth of your new persona, or are you going to sit by idly and let things happen to you? The former brings power and agency. The latter brings victimhood. These journal prompts are designed for you to step into your own power and bravely step out into a world that no one has ever prepared us for.
