Hello my loves!

This month’s second Full Moon hits in a bit of an odd way. A Full Moon in Sagittarius always hits us at the level of our deeply seated beliefs. Often times, our beliefs are tested and we may end up releasing something we believed to be true about the world, or conversely believing something even more strongly than we ever did before.

What’s unusual about this time, however, is that we are left in a bit of an emotional vacuum afterwards, which could make for a bit of a confusing experience. You can read more about that in the “Working with the Moon” section.

In this issue’s Manifestation Technique we talk about the importance of designing your own beliefs in order to create the life you wish for and how this process looks in practice. We then get to work on our beliefs with the journalling prompts that follow.

I often find myself turning to astrology more than ever when times are confusing and uncertain. Astrology is extremely helpful in answering those “What the heck was that about?” questions and once those are addressed, it’s much easier to move on and process what is actually happening. If you’re seeking answers within your own natal chart, I still have a few appointment slots available for the month of June - you can learn more on my website.

Lots of love,

Chrissy

Key Astro dates for your calendar

May 31: A very surreal feeling Sagittarius Full Moon sees us out of the month of May. Take it easy around this time and do not attempt to launch any new projects. This is a time for deep reflection or just letting go of any expectations and flowing with where life takes you.

June 1: Mercury enters Cancer. Here, our curiosity and the desire to collect as much information as possible, slow down. Instead, our emotional intelligence becomes finely tuned and sensitive to social undercurrents. If you’re finding yourself emotionally overwhelmed, take some time to journal on your feelings - with Mercury’s help, expression and subsequent healing comes easier.

June 3: Ceres conjuncts Uranus in Gemini. The asteroid of nourishment and “keeping things safe” meets the planet of “shaking things up”. Something you’ve been holding onto for comfort, but that doesn’t actually serve you anymore, could become released in a sudden, perhaps even shocking way. In Gemini this is most likely to be a mental process, or a casual acquaintance in your network.

June 5: Juno stations retrograde in Aquarius. A time of introspection around committed relationships begins, particularly around the themes of freedom and identity. How much freedom do you need within a partnership? How much freedom are you willing to give? Who are you in this relationship and who are you outside of it? Allow the answers to these questions to evolve.

June 9: Venus conjuncts Jupiter in Cancer - the benefics of the night sky meet up in the sign of family, home and emotional safety. There is an opportunity to form some incredibly deep and lasting bonds with the people who are meant to be on your path right now.

June 13: Mercury enters its pre-retrograde shadow. Any Mercury-transits from this point forward until after the end of the retrograde will be experienced 3 times, urging us to reflect on a situation from multiple different angles. Pay close attention to the places your mind is naturally going. On the same day, Venus enters Leo, bringing passion into our relationships and extravagance to our aesthetic preferences. There can be plenty of drama, too, though it usually ends in happy (rather than sad) tears.

Working with the Moon

There’s something strikingly odd about this Sagittarius Full Moon. The day before, the Moon goes void of course for 12 hours, then aspects the Nodes and a few outer planets, forms the Full Moon and then goes void of course for another almost 36 hours. So, what does that actually mean?

When the Moon is “void of course”, it means that it is not forming any aspects, or that it is not interacting in any way with any of the other planets and stellar objects in the night sky. These times often feel like liminal spaces - there’s an uncertain, odd and ungrounding feeling in the air. Traditional advice is to never start anything new during a void of course Moon, because it won’t come to fruition. Nothing lasting can come out of this time.

All of this is to say is that we approach this Moon from a confusing place, just for it to then test our beliefs to the core (that’s what a Sagittarius Moon does btw), and for it then to throw us back into space of misty, hazy confusion. And while all of this is happening, Mercury changes signs and essentially switches our mental operating system.

So, if this Full Moon stirs up a lot of emotions or rumination in you but leaves you feeling like you just don’t know what to do with all of that, you’re not alone. There could be a feeling of just not knowing what to believe anymore - if that happens, don’t rush to fill the void. Allow yourself to sit with the confusion and with the uncertainty. Let go of the need to have clearly defined outcomes. Instead, allow yourself to be gently shown where your path might take you next.

Some fun ways to celebrate this Full Moon include:

  • Light and sit by a fire - whether in a fire pit, fireplace or even just some candles.

  • Use peppermint or for essential oil or incense.

  • Cook a meal with sage and/or cloves.

  • Burn red or orange candles.

  • Meditate on an image of Artemis, goddess of the hunt.

  • Carry a selenite, amethyst or lapis lazuli crystal.

Manifesting with Astrology

In astrology, Sagittarius rules among other things long-distance travel, education, philosophy and religion. The common thread running through all of these themes is that they actively influence our beliefs about the world. Beliefs are formed at a young age, based on our experiences of the world and what we’ve been told to be true about the world by the authority figures in our lives.

In many cases, these beliefs go largely unquestioned, even when they don’t serve us anymore. Manifestation works by matching our immediate experience with our innermost vibration - but one of the things that influences that vibration more than anything else, are our beliefs. Perhaps you’ve tried in the past to say affirmations either in your head or out loud, something like “I am healthy and full of vitality”, only to have a little voice in the back of your head pipe in with something like “No you’re not, you’re on all sorts of medication and your knee hurts every time you take a step.” That’s because a belief is so much more powerful than a thought.

Beliefs are a bit like an onion. Some of them are on the surface. These are easy to spot and relatively easy to change. They’re the kind of beliefs where you can just stubbornly keep saying your affirmations and the belief will eventually give up and fall away. Some beliefs are deeper and more difficult to reach. These beliefs can only be released by understanding where they came from, acknowledging them and then consciously replacing them with another belief. Hypnotherapy and journalling are some fantastic tools to accomplish that. The great news is that once you get to one of those deeper seated beliefs and address them, all of the other false or unhelpful beliefs that are layered on top of it reveal themselves and get released at the same time.

There is only one common trap that people fall into with this process and that is the belief that this is a one-and-done process that you can just dedicate an afternoon to and never have to do again. Working on our beliefs is a lifelong process which is never finished. Often times, just when we think we’re past an old, unhelpful belief, it crops up again in a new situation that we didn’t expect. That doesn’t mean that your efforts didn’t work, just that you’ve reached a deeper level of the onion. Mindfulness practices or anything that gets you to become present and aware of your own thoughts can be incredibly helpful to boost this process.

Journalling Prompts

Now that we’ve discussed the reasoning behind changing your beliefs and also how our beliefs change, it’s time to put things into practice.

This issue’s journalling prompts aim to go straight at the deeper layers. The only thing that’s required from you is a willingness to look at them honestly and compassionately.
