Hello my loves!

Thank you for bearing with me while I was settling into my new living space - in the middle of Cancer season, the sign of home, roots and family. It truly couldn’t be more fitting! I’m so happy to back with another issue full of astrology wisdom, tools and techniques to help you work with the cosmic weather to create the life you are here to live.

And the astrology of July - particularly the second half, is nothing short of spectacular. If you’ve been feeling both excited and slightly overwhelmed by life lately, this is very much your issue. All of the outer planets are creating harmonious aspects to each other. This is something that has been building slowly over weeks - to an extent even months - and now it is reaching its pinnacle. Pluto, Neptune/Saturn, Uranus and Jupiter are creating a cradle formation, which literally looks like a cradle or hammock on an astrological chart.

Opinion on what this means for us is split among astrologers. Some see it as a platform for bountiful opportunities, others as a sign of escalating tensions or explosive breakthroughs. In truth, the potential is there for both. Harmonious aspects allow energy to flow unhindered, picking up enormous momentum along the way - and outer planet transits affect us all globally, on a huge scale. Though if you have any personal placements at 4º Aquarius, Aries, Gemini or Leo, then you may be affected more than others.

I for one will certainly be watching what’s happening around the world with more interest than usual, but it’s also worth noting that not all paradigm-shifting events happen in big headline-worthy events. Some shifts unfold slowly, gradually and almost imperceptibly at first. Some unfold through powerful internal shifts that don’t even need to be announced to the outside world. We just all collectively stop thinking or acting a certain way or supporting or caring about certain ideas, without even feeling any need to shout about it.

Whatever it may be and however it might present itself to you personally, the single best thing to do at the moment is to remain open, remain curious and allow yourself to flow wherever the cosmic current wants to take you.

Lots of love,

Chrissy

Key Astro dates for your calendar

Here’s how July’s key transits are likely to unfold and where you might feel that powerful cosmic current tugging at you most strongly.

July 14: A New Moon in Cancer exactly squares Vesta in Aries asks us to find a way to balance tension between comfort, safety and the things we set out to do as a sign of dedication to ourselves. The two are not mutually exclusive, but finding a way to satisfy both may take some skill and conscious contemplation.

July 18: Uranus in Gemini trines Pluto in Aquarius. These are both slow moving planets and it’s an effect that’s felt all month and even beyond, however this is the day the aspect perfects. Breakthroughs in learning and communication can lead to transformation in technology, science and profoundly impact humanity as a whole. This is a highly disruptive, but nevertheless hopeful transit that could change the course of our lives forever.

July 19: Mars in Gemini sextiles Saturn in Aries. This is a highly energising transit both mentally and physically. Make sure that you direct the energy somewhere productive, as it may otherwise affect the nervous system. It might feel like there are a thousand things happening at lightning speed, so don’t forget to slow down when you need it and breathe.

July 20: Jupiter in Leo trines Neptune in Aries and at the same time opposes Pluto in Aquarius. Watch for a tendency towards grandiosity both in yourself and in those around you, though grandiosity in itself may not always be a bad thing. What these planets are saying is that the end goal matters. Is the grandiose behaviour fuelling the ego’s delusion or is it in service of the common good?

July 21: Jupiter in Leo now sextiles Uranus in Gemini. Something is very likely to get the world buzzing and conversations flowing, especially on social media and the online space.

July 22: Happy Leo season! The Sun is at home in this sign, expressing itself in its purest form. The collective shifts its focus from home, family life and emotional safety, to an overall much more extroverted mood. This is the time when the inner child needs to come out to play. Ignore its demands and drama could ensue.

July 24: Mercury stations direct again. Over the next two weeks clarity will emerge again on any issues where they may have been miscommunications, confusion or just a need to look at things from a different perspective. Plans that have been on hold slowly but surely start moving again.

July 25: Pluto in Aquarius sextiles Neptune in Aries. The outer planet cradle formation is complete. This whole set of harmonious trines and sextiles creates an unhindered, unencumbered energy flow. Resistance is futile. If life sweeps you up and takes you into an entirely new direction, don’t fight it, but flow with it.

July 26: Saturn stations retrograde in Aries. The planet that symbolises discipline, responsibility and restriction takes a step back and the outer planet energy that has been building like a cosmic hadron collider has its boundaries removed. Regardless of what’s unfolding publicly or privately, take time to rest if you need it. Nourish yourself with what brings you comfort. The intensity of this astrology is hard to overstate.

July 27: The North Node enters Aquarius, while the Sun joins the tip of the cradle formation opposing Pluto, trining Neptune and sextiling Uranus on the same day. A new path emerges. This day could feel like we are truly living in the future.

All of that is a lot for the mind to hold. The Cancer New Moon gives us a softer entry point, through feeling rather than thinking. Let’s start there.

Working with the Moon

New Moons are always an opportunity to set powerful new intentions. But with the Sun and Moon so close to Mercury retrograde for this month’s New Moon, the most powerful intentions are not arrived at by thought alone. They need to be felt and intuited. In this way, there is not much “preparation” that can be done for this New Moon. Much as the incredible outer planet astrology of this month, it’s something that just needs to be experienced with trust in your own abilities to navigate shifting terrains.

On and close to the date of the New Moon, pay attention to the emotions you are currently experiencing. The Moon rules our emotions and Cancer is ruled by the Moon, so this is a highly emotional lunation. Only through truly feeling into what you are feeling right now - without judgement, without gritting your teeth and trying to turn it into something else - can you figure out what you’d like your emotional landscape to look like in detail.

With a square from Vesta in Aries, some tension could arise between our need for security and comfort and that which is ultimately predictable - and our path of growth, charting new terrain in service of our soul’s evolution. It’s worth looking at any areas in your life where you’re experiencing a lot of discomfort and checking in with yourself: Is this discomfort down to the fact that you’ve been pushing yourself too hard? Or is it because you’ve been avoiding what’s needed to the point where your comfort zone has shrunk so much that it’s become suffocating? Whatever transpires around this New Moon promises to hold the answers.

Once you’ve checked in with how you’re actually feeling, move on to this issue’s journalling prompts (linked below) to turn those feelings into clear, Cancer-New-Moon intentions.

Some fun ways to celebrate this New Moon include:

  • Cleanse your home space by burning sage or Palo Santo. (Make sure there is a window open for unwanted energies to leave!)

  • Wear white or light blue clothes.

  • Use chamomile or ylang ylang essential oil.

  • Burn jasmine or cedar wood incense.

  • Pour yourself a bath with dried rose petals.

  • Meditate on the Chariot tarot card.

  • Carry a moonstone, aquamarine or selenite crystal.

Manifesting with Astrology

In past issues of this newsletter, we have talked about how to manifest with your thoughts, your beliefs and your actions. One aspect we haven’t touched upon yet, is how the space you are in influences the success of your manifestations.

We can look at space on a macro level - this is what astrocartography does and can show you exactly where in the world you are most likely to find success in certain areas, such as love, visibility, healing, business, or even just the ability to clear your mind. These are some of the favourite sessions that I offer. Check out my booking page if you’re interested in exploring this further.

We can also look at space on a micro level, investigating the spaces you inhabit. Cancer is the sign of home, so Cancer season offers a great opportunity to dive into this topic. Depending on your personal situation, your home may or may not be the place where you spend most of your time, but in any case it will be the place that you have the most control over.

If you also work in your home (either in a remote corporate role or if you’re an entrepreneur or have a side hustle), there are a number of Feng Shui principles you can utilise to stack the odds of success in your favour. One of my personal favourites is to have your workspace in a location, where you can always see the door. This is because money, fortune and opportunities come through the door and so you don’t want to have your back turned against them. See the bonus resources below if you’d like to dig a little deeper into this subject!

Another technique I’ve found very effective is to do a 4 directional tarot spread for your home. You can use the classic Rider-Waite deck for this, or if you have a favourite oracle deck you can work with that too. Personally, I prefer the former, because it tends to tell things as they are, without sugar-coating them - and if an artwork or a pile of clutter is causing problems in my home, I want to know this in no uncertain terms! Here’s how to do it:

Take a moment where you will be undisturbed, light a candle and shuffle the cards while focusing on the words: “Show me the energies in my home.” When you feel that you have shuffled enough, lay out 5 cards in a cross formation. One in the centre which represents the middle of your living space. One to the right which represents the East, one at the bottom which represents the South, one to the left for the West and one at the top for the North.

If any difficult cards show up, look at what is located in that direction of your home. Clear any clutter around that area, check for any faulty electronic or household appliances or any objects that might be carrying a questionable energy. Go with what intuitively feels right. You can further cleanse that area by placing a jar of saltwater or burning sage. Feel free to repeat the spread a few days or weeks later to see if your remedies were successful.

One thing to note: Don’t be surprised if what comes up is glaringly obvious. When I did this exercise in my new home recently, it pointed to a stack of paperwork that I’d been procrastinating on filing away for ages. There was no big revelation here, yet as soon as I cleared it all up, the difference was noticeable.

We often underestimate how much our physical space and surroundings affect us - but because the effects are so subliminal, their effects on our subconscious (where 90% of manifestation happens) can be utterly profound.

Journalling Prompts

Once you’ve attuned your outer space and your home to support what you’re calling in, the next step is to attune your inner space. That’s where this issue’s journalling questions come in.

Just like Cancer energy, these questions are soft, but still decisive and powerful. Best completed at home or next to a body of water to honour the water element of the Cancer sign.

If you’re noticing your system tipping into overwhelm or urgency, these resources are designed to help you come back to that Cancer-season feeling of ‘home in yourself’, even when the outside world is chaotic and loud.

Following the Fun - a few ideas on bringing whimsy into late July

  • Get up early and go for an early morning swim. Great if you have access to the sea, a lake or river that’s safe to swim in, but if not, the local lido works just as well.

  • Instead of taking holiday snaps with your phone, grab a sketchbook and some pens or pencils. It’s not about being particularly artistic, but about the presence that comes from truly sitting with and observing your environment.

  • Plan a summer get-together with family or close friends. A potluck is fun, wallet-friendly and means there is no huge burden of preparation stress just on one person.

  • Honour the Sun and Jupiter in Leo and feed your inner child by doing an activity you used to love to do during the summer school holidays.
